因为疫情关系，大马政府在2020年4月6日开始，豁免各大银行自动提款机（ATM）及大马电子付账系统有限公司（MEPS）向用户征收的RM1手续费，以减少民众在银行拥挤提款的现象。
不过，根据星洲日报报道，大马多家银行已通知客户，从2022年2月1日起，民众通过ATM使用MEPS的跨银行提款服务，将恢复被征收RM1的跨银行（interbank）提款手续费；至于客户在本身所属银行ATM提款，则不需要缴付费用。
星洲日报记者针对此事致电向Citibank客服人员求证时也获得证实，客服人员指该银行在12月10日接获国家银行的指示，并已经针对这项指示发出通知给所有的客户。
目前为止，国内的Citibank、Maybank、CIMB、AmBank、HSBC、OCBC Bank、Public Bank、UOB、Hong Leong Bank、Alliance Bank、Standard Chartered、Agrobank及Bank Islam银行已先后发布上述消息：
